Dr Tanu Arora, Dean & Head of Department, Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad
Dr Tanu Arora did her graduation in Botany (Hons) from Hans Raj College, University of Delhi in 1995. She then pursued her MSc in Botany (Hons) with specialization in Crop Genetics & Plant Breeding and Ecology of Microbes. She completed her M.Phil in 1998 from the Department of Botany, University of Delhi under the guidance of Prof. KG Mukerji working on “Occurrence of VAM in the Euphorbiaceae, Cyperaceae, Polygonaceaea and Caryophyllaceae”. She then worked as Research Associate at Center for Mycorrhizal Research, Bioresources & Biotechnology Division, Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi in 1999. Her research expertise included working in DBT funded project entitled “Demonstration of integrated organic farming using VAM fungi in aromatic plants namely Cymbopogon winterianus, C. martinii and Polianthes tuberosa”, DST funded project “Reclamation of wastelands and fly ash dumps using mycorrhizal biofertilizer”. She completed her PhD in Biotechnology in 2003 from TERI and Barkatullah University. Her Research topic was “Degradation of organic wastes and development of organo- biofertilizer: Integrated response of VAM in organically grown aromatic plant species”. She has also worked as Visiting Researcher at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU], Department of Crop Production and Plant Pathology, Uppsala, Sweden, under the guidance of Dr Sadhna Alstrom. The area of research was to study the microbiological and biochemical aspects involved in the isolation of biocontrol agents from conventional and biodynamic composts and testing their antagonistic properties against some soil borne plant pathogens both under in vitro and greenhouse conditions. In 2003, she went ahead to work as a Consultant with NAVDANYA, an NGO headed by world-renowned environmentalist Dr Vandana Shiva. Her work primarily consisted of organizing and delivering Organic farming workshops, seminars, lectures etc. She has been the Dean, Bioengineering Research Centre since 2004 and teaches post graduate and graduate courses in Biotechnology. She has a several publications to her credit. Her research interests include environmental microbiology, plant-microbe interactions, biocontrol agents, sustainable agriculture, organic farming, reclamation of wastelands, industrial biotechnology.
Dr.Sindhu Ferosh; Associate Professor, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Dr.Sindhu Ferosh completed her PhD in Microbiology in 2003 from Sagar University under the Guidance of Dr Pradeep Mehta and Dr Archana Mehta. Her research topic entitled” studies on proteolytic enzymes produced by bacteria from Sagar Lake.” She did her post graduation in Botany with specialization in Microbiology and Plant pathology in 2000 from “Narmadha Mahavidhyalaya" affiliated to Bhopal University, secured 2nd rank in the university and was awarded silver medal. She completed her graduation in Botany (special) in 1996 from "Lady Doak College” affiliated to Madurai Kamraj University .She has five years of research experience and three years teaching experience. She is the member of Indian science congress, Indian phytopathological society, Indian Journal of microbiology, Indian journal of experimental biology and various other international societies. She has communicated 6 research papers during the course of her PhD, out of which 3 have been published in reputed journals. She has also communicated a review article on "Proteases and their industrial applications to the journal "Acta Polonica". She has attended several conferences and seminars and presented research papers in national level meetings. Areas of interest include Biotechnology & Sustainable Development, Environmental microbiology, and Bacteriology.
Dr.Pushpanjali Singh; Assistant Professor, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Dr Pushpanjali Singh has done her B.Sc. Botany Hons and M.Sc ,specialization in Genetics and plant Breeding from Ranchi University, Ranchi ( Jharkhand-State).In the year 1989,she started her research work on radish (Raphanus sativus.L) under the guidance of Dr.(Prof)N.Dayal,H.O.D.Genetics and Plant Breeding Dept, Ranchi University,Ranchi. Her topic of research is “Cytological Study of Diploid, triploid and tetraploid forms of radish (Raphanus sativus .L.)After four years of research experience she was awarded with Ph.D. degree in the year 1993.She has also done her B.Ed from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, (Meghalaya) in the year 1995.
Since 1993, she has involved herself in teaching at different levels in different institutions. She has joined Rai Foundation in the year 2003 as a lecturer (Biology). In the year 2005 she has officiated the office of Vice-Principal, Rai International School, (GCE ‘A’ Level).
Dr.Mamta Singh; Consultant(Equivalent to post of Lecturer), “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Dr.Mamta Singh did her graduation in Biology in 1997 from Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer. She did her M.Sc. Zoology from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur. She then completed her PhD in Zoology in 2004 from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur. Her research topic entitled"A study of neuro-protection in an Animal Model of Neuro-degenerative Diseases”. She is the member of Indian Academy of Neuro-sciences. She has attended a Workshop held at Birla Institute Jaipur. She has also attended national and International seminars organized at MB College Udaipur. She has communicated 6 research papers during the course of her Ph.D. She has presented a paper on” Effect of herbal Drugs on nervous system” at MB College Udaipur. Field of interest includes Animal Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology and Animal Physiology.
Ms Manisha Bano Assistant Professor, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Manisha Bano did her graduation in Biosciences (2000) from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi; Post graduation Biosciences (20002) from Jamia Millia Islamia.She has completed Advanced Postgraduate Diploma Bioinformatics from Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi in December 2003. She did her project work Under Dr. Tasneem Fatima (HOD Biosciences) Jamia Millia Islamia during the final semester of M.Sc. The project entitled “To cultivate Spirulina maxima and evaluate the growth pattern”. The study also included extraction of phycobiliproteins and the effect of heavy metals on Spirulina. She has worked at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories Gurgaon with Dr. Kulvinder Singh Saini (Director Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics) & Dr. Renu Singh (Senior Scientist) on “Asthma Genes & drugs Database” for a period of eight months. The project involved searching for genes and drugs, which cause Asthma, and compiling the information in a database to make it easier for the scientists to look for information. She has worked as a guest faculty at Bioinformatics institute of India, Noida for a period of four months. She has attended the National Symposium on Intellectual Property Rights and Indian Germless Resources-Emerging Challenges in Oct-2000 at Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi. Area of Interest includes Computational Biology and Computer aided Drug Designing.
Mr. Jai Raj Senior Lecturer, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Mr. Jai Raj joined Rai Foundation during the fall of 2004. He completed his Masters in Biotechnology from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, U.P. He has undergone trainings at some of the prestigious Research Institutes of India like CDRI and IGIB. During his summer training at the Genetics Laboratory, of the Div. of Lab Animals, Central Drug Research Institute, he worked on the strain identification of laboratory animals by RAPD and proteomic analysis. During his dessertation at the Molecular Diagnostics and Biochemistry Lab of Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi, he worked on the SNP analysis of SP-A, SP-D and i- NOS genes which are involved in pulmonary disorders like Tuberculosis and Aspergillosis etc. in humans. He had an exposure to ELISA and other proteomic techniques. He also has a good hand in handling laboratory animals as he has worked on the preparation of murine models of Acute Broncho Pulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) and Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis (IPA).
Ms Parmita Debok, Sr. Lecturer, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Ms Parmita Debok has been with our organization since April 2004. She has done her graduation in Biotechnology from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong in the year 1996. Post Graduation in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Tezpur University, Tezpur, Assam. She had a very good academic record and was a recipient of various Scholarships viz, National Scholarship, Govt. of India, North Eastern Council Scholarship, and Department of Biotechnology Scholarship, Govt. of India. She has over five years of experience in research, industry, corporate and academics. Some of the organizations the worked in are IMTECH Chandigarh, Bharat Immunologicals and Biologicals Cooperation Ltd. (BIBCOL, An Oral Polio Vaccine production Unit), Bulandshahr, Nezareth hospital Shillong, GE Capital International Services, Gurgaon. As a teacher she worked in St Margaret’s Convent, Shillong, as a Lecturer in Institute of Applied Medicine and Research, Ghaziabad.
Ms. Anjana Chugh, Sr. Lecturer, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad.
Ms. Anjana Chugh did her graduation in Industrial Microbiology in 1998 and post graduation in Fermentation and Microbial Technology in 2000 from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. During B.Sc. and M.Sc. she was awarded scholarship from G.N.D.University. She has an industrial experience for 6 months in Vaccine division, Quality control Lab. in Panacea Biotec Ltd., New Delhi. She has undergone short term Training In Ranbaxy and Analytical Testing Services, Okhla, New Delhi.
Ms. Anjana has a teaching experience of 3 years. She has qualified the UGC-CSIR, National level examination for lecturership in June 2000.
Areas of interest include – Microbiology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering and Fermentation Technology.
Mr. Syed Ausaf Ali , Sr. Lecturer, “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad .
Mr. Syed Ausaf Ali is a strong proponent of andragogy as a prerequisite for developing educational leadership through efficient academic delivery. He has done his graduation in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia ( Central University ), New Delhi . Then he pursued his M.Sc in Biotechnology from the same institution. During this period he studied two courses on Bioprocess Engineering and Fermentation Technology in IIT Delhi. Moreover he carried out his dissertation project on the topic of “ The study of gene duplication in Saccharomyces cerevisiae genome ” in the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, IIT Delhi. He secured the first rank in PG Diploma in Bioinformatics.
He admires traveling, and has traveled extensively across Europe, Middle East and South Asia , thereby helping himself in his endeavor to impart an even better learning experience to his students. He has represented the university (JMI) in two international forums in Saudi Arabia and Germany . Moreover he has participated in a number of national seminars/ symposia related to Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. He has been serving BERC, Meadows for the last two years in capacity of a senior lecturer.
Dr.Pranava Maddali Consultant(Equivalent to post of Professor), “BERC” Bio-Engineering Research Centre, Meadows, Faridabad. ,Finished M.Sc. in Genetics and Ph.D. in the filed of Immunology: “Immunological aspects underlying chronic and acute active hepatitis” in 1985 from Osmania University . Currently working in Rai Foundation from August 2005.Worked as Junior and Senior Research Fellow in AIIMS and as a J.R.O. in National Institute of Immunology in an ICMR project on Monoclonal antibodies to M.leprae. Was a Research Scientist in B.V.Patel Pharmaceutical and Educational Reseach and Development, Ahmedabad in the fields of Diabetes was also trained during that time for safe handling of radio isotopes in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre , Bombay . Employed in Ranbaxy Research Laboratories, Gurgaon as a Research Scientist Worked in INFIR (Impairment of nerve function impairment in Reactions of leprosy patients- a cohort study), a project in The Leprosy Mission Research Resource Centre funded by various international funding agencies. Was also one of the Principal investigators and a member of the INFIR India Advisory Board. Areas of Interest: Immunology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Animal tissue culture. Attended and presented work in various national and international conferences/ Symposia. Published 5 research papers in national and international journals. Three more were accepted for publication in international journals. .
